Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, recently shared his views on international relations and security through a series of tweets. Known for his service in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001 before joining Congress, Wilson continues to voice strong opinions on global matters.

On February 12, 2025, Wilson expressed his approval of Secretary Bessent's presence in Kyiv. He highlighted the strategic importance of Ukrainian minerals for American weaponry, stating that "Ukrainian minerals for American war-winning weapons is a GREAT DEAL." He also noted the impact of secondary sanctions on Russian oil, describing it as leading to "Art of the Deal FULL land swap." "Grateful that Secretary Bessent is in Kyiv."

The following day, February 13, Wilson acknowledged former President Trump's commitment to supporting Ukraine indefinitely. He emphasized the need for timely military aid to ensure Russia does not prevail under President Putin's leadership. In his tweet, he stated: "We must end the war responsibly sooner rather than later by sending better weapons faster." "Grateful President Trump says he will support Ukraine 'as long as we have to go.'"

Later on February 13, Wilson commented on Qassim al-Araji's role in commemorating the International Day to Counter Violent Extremism. Al-Araji is Iraq's National Security Advisor and associated with an Iranian group accused of attacking a U.S. Embassy. Wilson expressed disbelief at this development: "This is not a joke — Qassim al-Araji...is commemorating the International Day to Counter Violent Extremism." "This is not a joke."
