Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, has recently shared his views on various international issues through a series of tweets. Known for his strong opinions on foreign policy, Wilson addressed concerns about global trade routes, peace processes in Africa, and the nature of Russian threats.

On February 4, 2025, Wilson highlighted the strategic importance of Georgia as a transit hub for critical minerals and rare earth metals from Central Asia. He expressed concern that dominance by the "Chinese Communist Party, Iranian regime, and Russian" interests under the Ivanishvili regime could harm "vital US national interests." "Georgia is a key transit hub for critical minerals and rare earth metals from Central Asia. Chinese Communist Party, Iranian regime, and Russian dominance of this trade route under the Ivanishvili regime would badly damage vital US national interests."

Later that day, Wilson urged Felix Tshisekedi to prioritize the peace process in Eastern DRC. He emphasized the significance of the upcoming summit in Dar es Salaam as an opportunity for collaboration with Paul Kagame to achieve peace rather than exacerbating tensions. According to Wilson, resolving the crisis in Goma is within Tshisekedi's responsibilities. ".@FelixUdps must get serious about the peace process in the Eastern DRC now. The @jumuiya summit in Dar es Salaam is an opportunity for DRC to work together with @PaulKagame for peace, not point fingers and deepen tensions. The crisis in Goma is in the hands of Tshisekedi."

In another tweet on February 4th, Wilson dismissed the notion of Russian "hybrid threats," labeling them instead as acts of sabotage and terrorism. He called for an appropriate response to these actions."Importantly, there is no such thing as Russian “hybrid threats.” There is simply sabotage and terrorism. We must respond accordingly."
