Joe Wilson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing South Carolina's 2nd district since 2001, has been vocal on social media about international issues involving Russia and Syria. Wilson replaced Floyd Spence in Congress and has served since then, after a previous tenure in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001.

On March 7, 2025, Wilson tweeted about a recent missile attack attributed to Russian President Vladimir Putin. "War criminal Putin launched a ballistic missile at a hotel where American, UK, and local Ukrainian aid and health volunteers were staying. 4 dead, over 30 injured. In his deliberate bombing of children’s cancer hospitals, maternity wards, shopping centers, and places labeled as…" This post highlights the ongoing conflict and its impact on civilians.

Later that day, Wilson addressed the situation in Syria with another tweet. "Butcher Assad is not coming back to Syria unless it is to face trial. He is done." He further emphasized the potential repercussions of Russia's return to Syria by stating: "A return of Russia to Syria would mean a repeat of the same instability and threats. Support regional partners in stabilization efforts benefitting ALL."

In another post made on March 7th, Wilson expressed support for former President Trump's stance against Russia following recent attacks. "Grateful that President Trump has threatened MAXIMUM PRESSURE sanctions on Russia in response to the horrific attacks of War Criminal Putin." He stressed the urgency of these measures by adding: "Can’t come soon enough!! Maximum leverage needed for successful deal."
