While discussing mental health in our community during this morning’s North Augusta Chamber of Commerce Breakfast, Patrick Chambers, CEO of Aurora Pavilion asked, “How many of you know someone with diabetes?” With all attendees hands going up, he added, “8% percent of Americans have diabetes. But, 18% of Americas are documented as having a mental illness. So, for those who don’t think they know someone with a mental Illness, you likely do. It’s just not talked about as often. We need to reduce stigmas and normalize talking about mental health to better support those that are in need of help.”
