Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001 and known for his active role in international affairs, shared his views on recent international political developments through a series of posts on social media.

On April 16, 2025, Wilson expressed solidarity with the peaceful protests occurring in Tunisia. In a post, he stated, "We stand with the peaceful protests in Tunisia and condemn the brutal dictator Saied for his violent response." Wilson’s post denounced the actions of Tunisian President Kais Saied, referring to him as a dictator.

The next day, on April 17, Wilson turned his attention to the political situation in Georgia, commending Poland's actions. In his post, he mentioned, "Grateful for Poland’s strong response to the illegitimate Ivanishvili regime. Free and fair elections are the only way forward!" This comment reflected his support for democratic practices and international efforts to encourage just governance.

Later on April 17, Wilson reiterated his concerns regarding Tunisia, specifically addressing further issues surrounding President Kais Saied. He commented, “Dictator Saied of Tunisia brutally responding to growing protest movement. His days are numbered. Today is second anniversary of the unjust jailing of Parliament Speaker Rachid Ghannouchi as dictator Saied seeks to murder 14 people detained simply for criticizing his regime." Wilson highlighted the anniversary of the imprisonment of Parliament Speaker Rachid Ghannouchi, criticizing Saied's handling of political dissent.

Joe Wilson, 75, was born in Charleston, South Carolina, and currently resides in Springdale. He earned a BA from Washington and Lee University and a JD from the University of South Carolina.
