Joe Wilson, presently serving in the U.S. Congress as the representative for South Carolina’s 2nd district, has made several statements on Twitter addressing international relations and domestic concerns. Representing the district since 2001, Wilson has had a long-standing political career.
On April 17, 2025, Wilson acknowledged significant actions by President Trump and Treasury Secretary Bessent. In his tweet, he highlighted efforts to sanction the International Bank of Yemen by saying "MAJOR action by President Trump and Treasury Secretary Bessent today sanctioning the International Bank of Yemen & blocking Houthi money laundering & drying up their resources." He further expressed a hope for Oman to enforce sanctions against the Houthi.
Later that day, Wilson addressed international alliances, implicating multiple global entities. He tweeted, "Connect the dots: War Criminal Putin, the CCP, and the terrorist regime in Tehran all working together to support Houthi terrorists against the Yemeni people and government." He further elaborated on the thematic conflict between the rule of gun versus the rule of law.
Furthermore, Wilson took time to offer condolences for domestic incidents, expressing his concern over a local matter. His tweet stated, "As we continue to monitor the situation, my thoughts and prayers go out to the families and students affected by the Pine Ridge Middle School bus accident."
Wilson, a graduate of Washington and Lee University and the University of South Carolina, has dedicated much of his career to public service, including serving in the South Carolina Senate prior to his current tenure in Congress.
