Known for his political career that began in the South Carolina Senate in 1985, Wilson has been vocal about global matters affecting freedom and security.

On February 6, 2025, Joe Wilson addressed Germany's diplomatic stance by urging them to reconsider their actions. He stated: "I urge @GermanyDiplo to reverse course. This is an insult to Iranians who risk their lives for freedom and a peaceful Iran. Silencing them goes against the purpose of @MunSecConf".

In another tweet posted on February 7, 2025, Wilson reflected on meeting "Caesar," an individual known for exposing crimes in Syria. He expressed admiration by saying: "It was an honor to meet with “Caesar” twice when he came to speak before the House Foreign Affairs Committee. This hero smuggled thousands of photos of torture displaying Assad’s crime to the world. Now he can show his face."

Later that day, Wilson conveyed his intention to pursue accountability regarding past foreign policy decisions. He tweeted: "Grateful to send this letter asking for an INVESTIGATION of @Brett_McGurk & forcing him to testify about his disastrous role in emergence of ISIS & empowerment of Iran."
