Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district, has been vocal on various international issues through his recent tweets. He has served in Congress since 2001 and was previously a member of the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001.

On January 23, 2025, Wilson expressed his support for legislation aimed at implementing maximum-pressure sanctions against Iran. In his tweet, he stated: "Grateful to send a letter encouraging passing legislation codifying maximum-pressure sanctions against the Iranian regime. Read more in @J_Insider https://t.co/RVpJPVNsrB".

Later that day, Wilson announced an upcoming speech on the floor of the House of Representatives concerning Iran's influence in Iraq. He tweeted: "I will be making a major speech soon on the floor of the House of Representatives regarding the need to push back against Iranian malign influence in Iraq. Tune in shortly."

In another post on January 23, Wilson commented on China's military activities and their implications for international security. He wrote: "China is conducting the largest military peacetime buildup in the history of the world, putting in danger international security especially to partners Taiwan & Japan. As a member of @HASCRepublicans I will work with @realDonaldTrump to rebuild our military."
