Joe Wilson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing South Carolina's 2nd district since 2001, recently shared several statements on social media addressing significant international and historical issues. On March 24, 2025, Wilson announced the introduction of new legislation aimed at supporting democracy in Pakistan. He stated: "I am grateful to introduce the PAKISTAN DEMOCRACY ACT to sanction those undermining democracy in Pakistan!"
The following day, March 25, 2025, Wilson highlighted the plight of Nadeem Khadija from Salamiyeh, Syria. He wrote: "This is Nadeem Khadija of Salamiyeh, Syria—detained, tortured, and killed by Assad for dreaming of a free Syria. Syria may have triumphed over its torturers, but the victory is incomplete until real accountability. I’ll lead efforts in Congress to help establish an independent"
Later that same day, he commemorated Medal of Honor Day by reflecting on its historical significance: "The first military action to earn a Medal of Honor took place in 1861. Now, over 160 years later, this special award continues to recognize the selfless service to country and sacrifice of its recipients."
