Breyer® Horse Fun Day

The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism, along with Pitter Patter Children’s Boutique, will host a Breyer® Horse Fun Day on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame & Museum. The event is free for children, ages 4 – 16 (with a parent).

Breyer® Animal Creations was founded in 1950 in Chicago, Illinois and originally called Breyer® Molding Company. They gained recognition when F.W. Woolworth commissioned the company to create a horse statue (now known as the # 57 Western Horse) to adorn a mantel clock.

Breyer® model horses, which begin as artist’s sculptures, are all handcrafted and hand-painted using airbrushes and paintbrushes. Approximately 20 different artisans handle each individual Breyer® model from start to finish. This process, 54 years later, is still done by human hands, not machines. As a result, no two Breyer® model horses are ever exactly alike.

Breyer® has a strong collector base for which it published an annual collector publication Just About Horses (JAH), has an online Collector Club, and hosts BreyerFest®, the world’s largest model horse collector and equine festival each year.

You can create your own Breyer® Stablemate Models with all the supplies you need to paint your own one-of-a-kind horse! These are free to each participant while supplies last!

There will be also Breyer® door prizes, activity sheets, coloring pages and more. Kids, bring your favorite Breyer® horse to show to others, and make sure you check out Pitter Patter Children’s Boutique’s display of Breyer® products that are available in their store, located at 131 Laurens St. SW.

A special appearance will be made by mini-horses and donkeys.
