Funding Available for Marketing Tourism Related Events in the City of Aiken

The City of Aiken State Accommodations Tax Committee is currently accepting funding requests for tourism related projects that will take place July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024.

State Accommodation Tax Grants are available for qualifying non-profit or government organizations. The grant will cover marketing expenses that promote tourism in the Aiken area and target audiences outside a 50-mile radius of Aiken. Interested organizations should contact the City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department for a letter of intent form. Forms can also be obtained via e-mail by contacting clozon@cityofaikensc.gov or online at www.cityofaikensc.gov/taxes/accommodations-tax-state/.

Applicants (current and new) will not receive an application unless a letter of intent has been completed and received. By signing the letter of intent, the project coordinator and non-profit administrative official confirm they have budgeted the requested funds. This is a reimbursement grant and all funds must be spent according to the guidelines in order to be reimbursed.

All letters of intent must be received by 5:00 P.M. on Monday, October 31st, 2022. All applicants will be required to attend a mandatory ATAX workshop on November 9th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm or November 10th from 9:00 – 11:00 am. Details of the workshop will be shared with eligible applicants who submit LOIs by the Oct. 31st deadline.

Letters of intent submitted by mail should be returned to: City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department, Attn: Casey Lozon, A-Tax Grant Program, PO Box 1177, Aiken, SC 29802.

Letters of intent submitted in person must be received by the October 31st deadline at 5:00 P.M., at the first floor reception desk of the City of Aiken Municipal Building 111 Chesterfield St. S. Attn: Casey Lozon.

Questions concerning the application process or anyone wishing to confirm the receipt of a letter of intent are encouraged to contact Casey Lozon at the City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department at (803) 502-4856 or clozon@cityofaikensc.gov.
