AIKEN, S.C. (February 24, 2022) — Savannah River Remediation (SRR), the liquid waste contractor at Savannah River Site, will be long-remembered in Aiken, S.C. for its community support through the placement of a large welcome sign honoring the company’s 12.5-years of service at SRS.

SRR President and Project Manager Phil Breidenbach said the new welcome sign provides a lasting legacy of the successful work the company has performed at the site and celebrates the partnership resulting from the city’s economic development plan that was adopted in 2021.

“What a perfect way for us to say goodbye to the city of Aiken!” Breidenbach said. “Throughout our contract, Aiken has done so much to support us. With this sign, we will help the city welcome future visitors, new residents, and new businesses.”

The sign reads: “Aiken, South Carolina. The South’s Best Small Town.”

Aiken Mayor Rick N. Osbon called the sign, “A reminder of what a great corporate partner SRR has been to the city.”

The Mayor added: “It’s also a fitting memorial to the significant work the men and women of SRR have accomplished at the Savannah River Site.”

The seven-foot-tall structure will stand at the corner of Whiskey Road and South Boundary.

SRR is a team of companies led by Amentum with partners Bechtel National, Jacobs, and BWX Technologies, Inc. Critical subcontractors for the contract are Orano, Atkins, and Amentum N&E Technical Services.
