University of South Carolina-Aiken issued the following announcement on February 14.
Aiken, SC (02/14/2022) — During Saturday's homecoming festivities, the University of South Carolina Aiken crowned the 2022 homecoming king and queen.
Micah Mathis was crowned king and Sofia Ferreira was crowned queen. The duo was introduced to the student body and Pacer fans during halftime of the men's basketball game.
The men's team beat 17th ranked Flagler in a 78-61 upset and the women's basketball team won 85-50.
Additional activities included the first annual homecoming tailgate for current students and alumni where guests enjoyed games and dancing, a baseball game (13-8 loss against Florida Southern), and a softball doubleheader versus UNC Pembroke (with an 8-6 Pacer win and a 3-2 Pacer loss).
