SC US House District 2: Wilson, Schneider and Murphy Introduce the U.S.-Israel Military Technology Cooperation Act

Rtx7029k

SC US House District 2 issued the following announcement on September 21.

Washington, DC -- Representatives Joe Wilson (R-SC), Brad Schneider (D-IL) and Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) introduced the U.S.-Israel Military Technology Cooperation Act. This bipartisan bill, which was submitted as an amendment for inclusion in the Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act, would require the creation of a United States-Israel Operations-Technology Working Group. Developed in collaboration with Israel, this group would address methods and practices to best share intelligence-informed, military capability requirements, and provide a stand-alone forum designed to further strengthen our efforts to meet and overcome current and future threats.

“The United States has no better friend in the Middle East region than Israel. Our two nations face a number of evolving vulnerabilities and it is critical that we strategically work together to eliminate technology gaps when confronting common enemies,” said Wilson. “Further strengthening our already robust defense coordination to ensure we are on the cutting edge of research and development is a matter of readiness and it will be achieved through the establishment and implementation of this working group. I am grateful to introduce this bipartisan legislation along with my colleagues, Representative Brad Schneider and Representative Stephanie Murphy.”

“Israel is our single most important ally in the Middle East. An Operations-Technology Working Group between our two nations would enhance our mutual security and the security of the region as a whole. I’m proud to co-lead this bipartisan amendment and legislation with Congressman Wilson and Congresswoman Murphy to protect our historic alliance,” said Schneider.

“The relationship between the United States and Israel is rooted in shared values, common interests, and a deep historical connection,” said Murphy. “Our two countries have much to learn from each other when it comes to military technology, and I’m proud to co-lead this bipartisan bill with Congressmen Wilson and Schneider to further strengthen the U.S.-Israel alliance to the benefit of both nations.”
