Wilson, who has been in office since 2001 after succeeding Floyd Spence, expressed gratitude and concern over various geopolitical issues.

On February 1, 2025, Joe Wilson tweeted about the release of American hostages from Hamas captivity. He stated: "Grateful to see American Keith Siegel released from Hamas captivity today, along with Ofer Kalderon and Yarden Bibas. America continues to stand with Israel to ensure that all hostages are released!!"

Later that day, Wilson commented on the political situation in Georgia. He criticized the actions of what he described as an illegitimate regime led by Ivanishvili. In his tweet at 15:42 UTC, he said: "The brutal and illegitimate Ivanishvili regime is raiding the houses of brave Georgians and making arbitrary arrests in its increasingly desperate effort to hold on to power after rigging the October election. Must impose sanctions. Trump will fix it."
