Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina's 2nd district since 2001, has recently made several statements on international relations through his social media account. These statements reflect his perspectives on various geopolitical issues and highlight his stance on U.S. foreign policy.
On January 30, 2025, Wilson expressed concerns about the actions of Slovakia and Hungary in blocking European Union sanctions. He criticized these nations for their stance regarding the "illegitimate Ivanishvili regime," which he claims is compromising Georgia's sovereignty by aligning with China, Iran, and Russia. He stated that this situation opposes U.S. national security interests and remarked that "Trump will fix it." "Slovakia and Hungary are wrongly and misguidedly blocking EU sanctions on the illegitimate Ivanishvili regime, which is selling out Georgia to the CCP, the Iranian regime, and War Criminal Putin. This is against US national security interests. Trump will fix it."
Later that day, Wilson called upon Secretary Rubio to reevaluate foreign aid to Tunisia as part of a broader review process. He argued against taxpayer funding for Tunisia under its current leadership, labeling President Kais Saied as an anti-American dictator who has turned Tunisia into a police state. Wilson again referenced former President Trump as a solution to this issue: "I urge @SecRubio to cut all aid to Tunisia as part of foreign aid review. There is no reason that taxpayers should be funding this country. Kais Saied is an anti-America hateful dictator & transformed an emerging democracy into a tyrannical police state. Trump will fix it."
In another post on January 30th, Wilson expressed gratitude towards Rwanda for its efforts in combating terrorism and curbing support from Russia, Iran, and China for paramilitary groups like M23: "Grateful for the continued support of Rwanda to fight back against terrorism and stop Russian, Iranian, and CCP support for dangerous paramilitary groups like M23."
