Joe Wilson shares thoughts on aircraft collision and international financial concerns

Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, has recently shared several statements on social media addressing various international and domestic issues.

On January 30, 2025, Wilson expressed his condolences following an aircraft collision. He stated: "Roxanne and I extend our prayers for ongoing rescue efforts and for those who lost loved ones in tonight’s devastating aircraft collision. Americans stand together in hope and mourning."

Later that day, Wilson criticized the current administration's handling of financial oversight concerning Iraq's Rafidain Bank. He tweeted: "Under Biden and @brett_mcgurk, @USTreasury and @federalreserve allowed Rafidain Bank, the largest in Iraq, to become the money laundering machine for the Iranian regime and its puppets to obtain US$. This bank must be sanctioned. Trump will fix it."

In another post on January 30, Wilson mentioned his involvement with James MacCleary in sending a letter to UK Foreign Minister David Lammy. The letter urged sanctions against Ivanishvili due to alleged financial misconduct. Wilson remarked: "I was grateful to join @JamesMacCleary to send this letter to UK Foreign Minister @DavidLammy urging the UK to sanction Illegitimate Ivanishvili. UK sanctions are critical since that’s where Ivanishvili has stashed much of his stolen wealth."
