Cost of college went up for all students at Aiken Technical College

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.9 percent for 2018-19 at Aiken Technical College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

South Carolina residents paid $5,016 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $188 more than the $4,828 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 36.6 percent more than residents this year, or $6,850. Their price tag grew 0.3 percent from $6,830 in 2017-18.

About 92 percent of the school's undergraduate population are South Carolina residents. And about 8 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 208 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.1 million and 20 students took out student loans totaling more than $90,301.

Including all undergraduates (2,267), 1,827 students used grants or scholarships totaling $6.6 million, and 494 students took out $2.5 million in federal student loans.
