3

University of South Carolina-Aiken issued the following announcement on March 11.

Aiken, SC (03/11/2022) — University of South Carolina Aiken (USC Aiken) junior, Andrew Gregory, has been named the March 2022 Student of the Month by the Aiken Sunrise Rotary Club.

Gregory is a molecular biology major and a Silver Bluff High School graduate. He plans to obtain a Ph.D. in molecular biology and open a research facility specializing in the development of pharmaceuticals and vaccines. He chose to attend USC Aiken because of the one-on-one academic relationships students are able to build with faculty.

"These relationships have helped me prosper in my academic career and have allowed me to participate in opportunities beneficial to my future career," he said. "Another reason I decided on USC Aiken was the immediate feeling of community that I sensed across campus. Since being here, I have met and continue to meet amazing people that make my college experience phenomenal."

Gregory is involved in various extracurricular activities. He is a senator representing the College of Science and Engineering for the Student Government Association, vice president of Delta Sigma Phi, a biology and geology student ambassador, a chancellor ambassador, and a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies. In addition, Gregory is conducting undergraduate research on HIV gene therapy.

Outside of his academic career, he enjoys spending time with friends and family and has recently picked up a new hobby - running. "I hope to run a marathon in the future," he said.
