Discover South Carolina recently issued the following announcement.
Due to COVID-19, the 54th annual Governor's Carolighting will look a little different than previous years. Instead, a livestream of the iconic holiday ceremony will be held from 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Governor Henry McMaster will deliver a speech and light the tree during the livestream.
This special event heralds the official start of South Carolina's yuletide season with the lighting of the State's Christmas Tree. The program features performances from artists from across South Carolina, the Governor's seasonal message and more! Visits and pictures with Santa and complimentary hot chocolate are also part of the fun.
