Town of Edgefield recently issued the following announcement.
To celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Edgefield Village Cemetery, the Edgefield Preservation Association is hosting two "Spirit Walk" tours in the Edgefield Village Cemetery on Saturday, September 18th at 6:30 p. m. and 7:30 p. m. Each tour will last an hour. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to meet historic characters from Edgefield's colorful past, including Mr. Preston Brooks and Mrs. Lucy Holcomb Pickens. Tickets are $25.00 each (children under 12 are free) and each tour is limited to 30 people. Tickets are on sale now at the Tompkins Library, 104 Courthouse Square, Edgefield, SC. For more information or to reserve tickets, please call 803-637-4010. The majority of the proceeds will go to benefit the restoration and preservation of Edgefield Village and Willowbrook Cemeteries.
