City of Aiken Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department Announces the
Return of Story Time Program
The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department is pleased to announce the return of Story Time, a cherished reading program that promotes literacy in our community’s youth. The spring season begins on Tuesday, March 7, at 4:00 PM and continues every Tuesday afternoon in March, April, and May (except for Tuesday, April 4, when Story Time will not be held). Story Time is free to attend and is held on the grounds of Rye Patch, located at 100 Berrie Rd. This season our stories will highlight the importance of your imagination, teamwork, friendship, and much more!
Parents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket; snacks and drinks are welcome. Families will receive a free book to build their home library at every reading session. In addition, families are encouraged to bring used books from home to help stock the Little Free Library in Hopelands Gardens. The Little Free Library, installed in April 2017, is a free book exchange that further encourages the mission of Story Time.
Story Time gracious sponsors: United Way of Aiken County; Rotary Club of Aiken; Public Education Partners of Aiken County; The Friends of Hopelands & Rye Patch Inc.; Wesley Bodie, ERA Real Estate Agent; and Smith, Massey, Brodie, Guynn & Mayes, LLC.;.
In inclement weather, Story Time will be held inside Rye Patch Reception Center.
The City of Aiken Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism invites people of all ability levels to enjoy programs, parks, and facilities. Individuals needing special assistance to participate should notify PRT Administrative Office 48 hours in advance.
