Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, recently shared reflections and updates from his diplomatic activities and statements on international affairs through a series of posts on social media.
On August 24, 2025, Wilson addressed Ukraine’s ongoing struggle for sovereignty in the face of Russian aggression. He stated, “Russia has for centuries sought to snuff out Ukraine’s independence & yet Ukraine today stands strong against the brutality & terrorism of war criminal Putin. On Ukraine’s Independence Day, we honor this courageous people who is defending all of Europe from Russia’s sick designs.”
The following day, August 25, Wilson reported on meetings held during a bipartisan delegation visit focused on Syria. He wrote, “It was my honor to meet with President Ahmed al-Sharaa as part of a bipartisan delegation with @USAMBTurkiye and Ranking Member Shaheen of @SFRCdems to discuss a bright, unified, and stable future for Syria. This trip was particularly meaningful for me, and I am grateful for”.
Later that same day, Wilson posted about an interfaith conference attended by Syrian church leaders at the St. Ephraim Syriac Orthodox Monastery of Sayadnya. He said, “An honor to join @USAmbTurkiye Tom Barrack and @SFRCDems @SenatorShaheen to meet Syrian Church leaders at a historic interfaith conference featuring religious clerics of all religions and denominations at the St. Ephraim Syriac Orthodox Monastery of Sayadnya, Syria.”
