Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001 and co-chair of the Congressional Korea Caucus, posted a series of statements on August 15, 2025, addressing topics from World War II history to commemorations of Korean independence.
In one post on August 15, Wilson wrote: “Important to note that Russia started WWII in alliance with the Nazi Germans in a sick pact to conquer, split up, and enslave Central and Eastern Europe https://t.co/sxUXj8O2Vm”.
Later the same day, he posted simply: “TRUMP https://t.co/59nXWV7BRK”.
That evening, Wilson also stated: “As co-chair of the Congressional Korea Caucus, I join friends of freedom in commemorating the 80th anniversary of The Day the Light Returned. We cherish our alliance rooted in shared values “.
Wilson has represented South Carolina’s 2nd district since succeeding Floyd Spence in 2001. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale at age 75, Wilson holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
