Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, recently made several public statements on social media regarding legislative priorities and foreign policy.
On July 15, 2025, Wilson posted: “I spoke on the House floor about how voters made their mandate clear in November for a Republican House and a Republican Senate to deliver the One Big Beautiful Bill to @POTUS behalf of American families. This law provides a framework to secure the border, unleash American energy”.
The following day, July 16, he wrote: “Free Iraq from Iran.”.
Later that same day, Wilson commented on defense legislation: “.@HASCRepublicans are moving full steam ahead in support President Trump’s Peace Through Strength agenda with committee passage of #FY26NDAA

Wilson has served in Congress since succeeding Floyd Spence in 2001. Prior to his tenure in Washington, he was a member of the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale, Wilson graduated from Washington and Lee University with a BA in 1969 before earning his JD from the University of South Carolina in 1972.
