Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, shared updates on his recent activities through a series of posts on September 5, 2025.
In one post, Wilson highlighted a meeting with members of the Syrian American community. He wrote, “Grateful to meet with Syrian Americans including @tarekktelehmd from the @SyriaSAAPP to discuss the critical work of repealing the Caesar Act. Thank you for your efforts to support Free Syria! “ (September 5, 2025).
Later that day, Wilson expressed appreciation for the South Carolina National Guard and their involvement in national security efforts. He stated, “I am grateful for the professionalism of the SC National Guard troops in supporting President Trump’s directive to make Washington D.C. safer and cleaner for families. No one should fear for their safety while visiting or living in our nation’s capital. “ (September 5, 2025).
Wilson also marked Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by voicing his support for pediatric cancer patients and survivors. He posted, “September is designated as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to bring awareness to the children currently undergoing treatment and the survivors of pediatric cancer. I am grateful to be a cosponsor of the ‘Give Kids a Chance Act of 2025′ to reduce the limitations of treatment for” (September 5, 2025).
Wilson has represented South Carolina’s 2nd District in Congress since succeeding Floyd Spence in 2001 and previously served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 until his election to Congress. Born in Charleston in 1947 and residing in Springdale, he holds degrees from Washington and Lee University and the University of South Carolina.
