Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, recently shared updates on social media regarding regional development and international affairs.
On August 7, 2025, Wilson posted about his participation in the inauguration of a new facility at the University of South Carolina Aiken campus. He wrote, “Grateful to have joined @SecretaryWright, @LindseyGrahamSC, @greenjbjr, and other attendees for the opening of the Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative on @USCAiken campus. The facility is a success story of how the government, private sector, and institutions of higher education”.
Later that day, Wilson commented on Middle East policy by expressing support for a proposal concerning Gaza. In his post dated August 7, 2025, he stated: “I support @IsraeliPM’s proposal to provide governance to Gaza. This will protect Israeli civilians from Hamas rocket attacks whose covenant is to murder all Jews. It will also allow for safe delivery of food for the people of Gaza. Mutually beneficial to everyone.”
On August 8, 2025, Wilson acknowledged federal leadership in another post: “I appreciate the leadership of @POTUS and @ENERGY.”
Wilson has served as a member of Congress since replacing Floyd Spence in 2001 and previously held office in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale, Wilson holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
