Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, recently shared updates on his official X account regarding legislative activity and meetings with international figures.
On July 22, 2025, Wilson highlighted the passage of a key defense funding measure: “I spoke on the House floor about how grateful I am that Republicans passed the Defense Appropriations Bill on behalf of national security for American families. Key revisions include: support for troops and families by delivering a pay raise and improving the quality of life;”.
The following day, Wilson posted about meeting with Sulaiman Isa Khan and Kasim Khan to discuss their father’s situation. He wrote on July 23, 2025: “Grateful to meet Sulaiman Isa Khan and Kasim Khan to discuss their father. Free Imran Khan! “.
Later that same day, Wilson referenced a meeting with Rep. Cory Mills as well as Syrian Americans Tarek Naemo and Jamil Naamou: “Honored to meet with the courageous @RepMillsPress —an unwavering defender of President Trump’s vision for peace through strength. Joined by Syrian Americans @TarekNaemo and @JNaamou, who proudly raised the U.S. flag at Damascus Airport after over a decade under Assad’s brutal”.
Wilson has represented South Carolina’s 2nd District in Congress since succeeding Floyd Spence in 2001. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947, Wilson resides in Springdale and holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
