Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, has recently used his social media platform to comment on international affairs, including the war in Ukraine, political unrest in Tunisia, and diplomatic relations with Jordan.
On August 21, 2025, Wilson criticized President Biden’s approach to military support for Ukraine. In his post he wrote: “Biden badly hamstrung Ukraine by restricting their ability to strike the ATTACKER with the limited systems supplied. If Biden had let Ukraine fight back initially, Ukraine would have won already! President Trump is right. Let Ukraine fight back!”
The following day, August 22, Wilson addressed protests in Tunisia and voiced criticism of Tunisian President Kais Saied. He stated: “The largest protest in Tunisia in months as the UGTT union protests tyrant Kais Saied. Tyrant Saied has failed and no matter how he spins it the facts don’t lie — the economy is a disaster, he has promoted corruption which is now endemic, and freedoms now nonexistent. Sadly”
On August 23, Wilson shared details of a diplomatic meeting in Amman with Jordanian officials: “Grateful to meet the President of the Jordanian Senate @SenateJordan Faisal Al-Fayez in Amman to discuss our important relationship with our friends in Jordan a valued partner!”
Wilson’s public statements reflect ongoing concerns about U.S. foreign policy and highlight his active engagement with issues beyond domestic politics. Having served as a congressman since 2001 after replacing Floyd Spence and previously holding office in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001, Wilson brings decades of legislative experience to his commentary. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale at age 75, Wilson holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
