Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, recently posted a series of messages on social media addressing international relations and national observances.
On October 11, 2025, Wilson extended greetings to Taiwan in recognition of its national holiday: “Best wishes to the people Taiwan on Double Ten Day. The relationship is enduring and the people of Taiwan are appreciated around the world.”
The following day, October 12, 2025, he acknowledged the contributions of American farmers: “Today we recognize the dedicated work of American farmers who produce food for us to eat every day. Happy National Farmers’ Day.”
On October 13, 2025, Wilson commented on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East: “Heartfelt home run by @POTUS in Israel with a victory for Peace Through Strength. As Co-Chair of the Republican Israel Caucus and leader of the May 14, 2018 delegation to open the American Embassy in Jerusalem, I know of Trump’s courage in Israel and across the Middle East. Now”
Wilson has served in Congress since replacing Floyd Spence in 2001 and previously served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947, he resides in Springdale and holds degrees from Washington and Lee University and the University of South Carolina.
