Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, posted a series of statements on social media addressing international events and recent anniversaries.
On October 7, 2025, Wilson marked the anniversary of the attack in Israel, stating, “Today marks the second anniversary of the massacre of 1,200 and kidnapping of 251 innocent men, women, and children in Israel by the Iranian terrorist puppet, Hamas. This cowardly act will forever be remembered around the world, but no more meaningful than to the families and https://t.co/lhXpiIYzU0”.
The following day, October 8, 2025, Wilson commented on foreign policy regarding Georgia: “.@StateDept is right. The CCP-owned, rabidly anti-American crooks of the Georgian Nightmare regime have no standing to opine on American interests. Grateful my House colleagues overwhelmingly adopted a policy of non-recognition. Anyone carrying water for the GD does so against”.
Later that same day, Wilson praised former President Trump’s diplomatic efforts: “President Trump continues his legacy as a peacemaker. Grateful for the support of regional allies in reaching this historic agreement for the betterment of all. https://t.co/nz717dF4na”.
Wilson has served in Congress since replacing Floyd Spence in 2001 and previously served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947, he resides in Springdale and holds degrees from Washington and Lee University and the University of South Carolina.
