Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, recently used his social media platform to discuss his positions on U.S. foreign policy and to respond to violence in the Middle East.
On September 5, 2025, Wilson expressed appreciation for coverage of his views on American diplomacy in Syria and Lebanon. He wrote, “Grateful to @BreitbartNews for publishing my oped about President Trump & @USAmbTurkiye’s remarkable efforts to promote peace in Syria and Lebanon and end endless wars. Congress must support President Trump & pass a CLEAN & TOTAL repeal of the Caesar Act.”
Two days later, on September 7, Wilson highlighted his participation in a radio interview regarding his recent travels and legislative goals: “Grateful to join @mboyle1 on @BreitbartNews Radio to discuss my trip to Syria & Lebanon and my efforts to support Pres Trump & @USAmbTurkiye Tom Barrack & repeal the Caesar Act!”
Addressing an incident of violence in Jerusalem, Wilson posted on September 8: “I am deeply disturbed by the mass murder on a bus in Jerusalem, and my thoughts and prayers are with the victims. As antisemitism continues to rise around the world it is critical to push back against this hate, as violence, especially against innocent people, has no place in”
Wilson’s public service career began prior to Congress with a tenure in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 until he entered federal office in 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale at age 75, Wilson holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
