Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, began his 2026 Legislative Agenda Tour with several stops across his district, outlining key priorities for the year.
On January 16, 2026, Wilson posted about his first stop at West Columbia City Hall: “Grateful to begin my annual Legislative Agenda Tour for 2026 at the West Columbia City Hall, where I shared my top priorities for the year including creating jobs, promoting conservative solutions, fighting for economic security, and safeguarding national security.”
Later that day, he continued his tour with a visit to Aiken County Government Center. He wrote on social media: “On the next stop of my 2026 Legislative Agenda Tour, we visited the Aiken County Government Center. Some of the highlights of my agenda that are important to our district include promoting tax cuts, supporting law enforcement & first responders, and protecting South Carolina’s” (January 16, 2026).
The third publicized stop was at North Augusta Municipal Building. Wilson stated: “The next stop of our 2026 Legislative Agenda Tour took place at the North Augusta Municipal Building. There, I emphasized the importance of advocating for local school rule to empower parents, securing current & future missions at the Savannah River Site, and supporting a” (January 16, 2026).
Wilson has represented South Carolina’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Floyd Spence in 2001 and previously served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and now residing in Springdale at age 75, he holds degrees from Washington and Lee University and the University of South Carolina.
