Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, shared several statements on social media on December 10, 2025, addressing topics related to Ukraine and Iraq.

In a post made at 02:44 UTC, Wilson commented on the positions of Ukraine and Russia regarding proposals from former President Trump. He stated, “Ukraine has accepted ALL SIX proposals presented by President Trump this year. Russia has accepted 0. Putin is mocking President Trump and buying time to keep killing Ukrainian families. Ensuring hundreds of thousands more Russian men die in trenches for perverted lies”.

Later that morning, at 02:58 UTC, Wilson discussed receiving an award alongside fellow South Carolinian Mark Burns. He wrote, “It was my honor to receive the Star of Ukraine alongside fellow South Carolinian and man of tremendous faith and honor @pastormarkburns. I echo his words on the heroism of the men and women defending Ukraine and freedom. America is represented well by your moral clarity and true”.

In another post published at 17:07 UTC, Wilson turned his attention to developments in Iraq. He said, “Fayiq Zaidan head of Iraq’s Higher Judicial Council issued orders to prosecute anyone who ‘undermines the legitimacy’ of the so called Iraqi political system— basically anyone who criticizes Iran’s puppets! It is sad to see Iraq go back to the Baath era police state mentality”.

Wilson’s remarks come as he continues a long career in public service; he replaced Floyd Spence in Congress in 2001 after serving in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947, Wilson graduated from Washington and Lee University with a BA in 1969 before earning a JD from the University of South Carolina in 1972. He currently resides in Springdale.
