Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, recently used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and domestic economic developments.

On February 24, 2026, Wilson reflected on the escalation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, writing: “4 years ago, Russia massively escalated its invasion of Ukraine in a desperate attempt to rebuild the failed Soviet Union. It assumed it would swiftly conquer the Ukrainian people, enslave them, and then invade NATO states, endangering every American family. Because of the” (posted February 24, 2026).

Later that day, Wilson addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin and highlighted national security concerns for the United States: “On the anniversary of war criminal Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, cutting off Russia’s killers around the world is a U.S. National Security imperative. Grateful for the support of my colleagues.” (posted February 24, 2026).

On February 25, Wilson shifted focus to domestic policy and economic issues in remarks about recent improvements for American families: “I spoke on the House floor about how @POTUS is delivering real relief for families in the form of lower costs for everyday items, creating jobs. Key prices fell in January including those for beef, eggs, and coffee; interest rates are down for home building; and gasoline prices” (posted February 25, 2026).

Wilson has represented South Carolina’s 2nd District since replacing Floyd Spence in Congress in 2001. Prior to his tenure in Congress he served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale at age 75, Wilson holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
