Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, published several statements on his Twitter account on January 27, 2026, addressing issues ranging from U.S. foreign policy in Iraq to concerns over American technology exports to Russia.

In his first post at 21:51 UTC, Wilson expressed support for former President Donald Trump’s policies in Iraq by stating, “I told you Trump would fix it! Make Iraq Great Again”.

Later that evening at 22:40 UTC, Wilson questioned the actions of Rogers Corporation, an Arizona-based company. He wrote, “Why is the Arizona-based Rogers Corporation making components that wind up in Russia’s state-of-the-art air defense systems? American companies need to do more to control the exports of their technology so they aren’t used in Russian war crimes in Ukraine. My letter to the Rogers”.

At 23:49 UTC on the same day, Wilson reiterated his support for Trump and Special Envoy Mark Savaya regarding Iraq policy. He posted, “Grateful to support the spectacular efforts of President Donald Trump and Special Envoy @Mark_Savaya on Iraq and work hand in hand with both to Make Iraq Great Again and Free Iraq from Iran. It is critical that Iraqi leaders do not repeat the mistakes of the past by misreading”.

Wilson has served as a member of Congress since replacing Floyd Spence in 2001 and previously held office in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale, Wilson holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
