Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, addressed international and local issues in a series of posts on August 11, 2025.

In one post, Wilson commented on the political climate in Tunisia, stating, “If a single protester goes out on the streets of Tunisia it is practically a death sentence under the Kais Saied regime. Yet demonstrations for Hezbollah continue unabated in Tunisia, obviously sponsored and supported by the Tunisian regime. All while Saied is collecting aid” (August 11, 2025).

Later that day, Wilson expressed condolences regarding an incident in Colombia: “The murder of Senator Miguel Uribe is a tragedy, and I send my thoughts and prayers to his family. As former co-chairs of Partners of the Americas program for Colombia, my wife Roxanne and I stand with the Colombian people. Colombia is a valued ally of America, and the South” (August 11, 2025).

Wilson also highlighted his participation in a recent radio event: “I was grateful to participate in last week’s live radio conversation at the Flight Deck in Lexington, co-hosted by Americans for Prosperity and The Point Radio. Led by moderator Keven Cohen, the topic of discussion was the One Big Beautiful Bill , signed into law by President” (August 11, 2025).

Wilson has been active in U.S. politics for decades; before serving in Congress he was a member of the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale at age 75, Wilson holds degrees from Washington and Lee University and the University of South Carolina.
