Joe Wilson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing South Carolina’s 2nd district, recently used his social media platform to address several national and international issues in a series of posts.

On January 11, 2026, Wilson recognized National Human Trafficking Awareness Day by expressing support for law enforcement and highlighting the ongoing crisis. He wrote, “Today is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Every year, human traffickers deprive millions of innocent people around the world of their fundamental human rights and dignity. I stand with our brave law enforcement officers who work daily to identify and prevent human”.

The following day, January 12, 2026, Wilson addressed tax policy and economic growth from the House floor. In his post he stated, “I spoke on the House floor about how the Working Families Tax Cuts law cuts taxes, limits government, expands freedom, and provides pro-growth policies that will create jobs. Under @POTUS the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 worked, but it had an expiration date at the end of 2025”.

On January 14, 2026, Wilson commented on political repression in Iran. He wrote, “Regimes that rely on mass murder to cling to power are weak and doomed. The people of Iran have courageously and relentlessly demanded freedom and dignity from this death cult regime. We pray for the loved ones of those murdered by cowards. #FreeIran #MakeIranGreatAgain”.

Wilson has served in Congress since 2001 after replacing Floyd Spence and previously spent over fifteen years in the South Carolina Senate (Fact 1; Fact 2). Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale at age 75 (Fact 3), Wilson holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD) (Fact 4).
