Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, shared statements on his social media accounts addressing international and religious issues between September 22 and 23, 2025.
On September 22, Wilson posted about the Jewish New Year: “Beginning this evening, we recognize Rosh Hashanah, the start of the Jewish New Year, a holiday that commemorates the creation of the world. This year and every year, we reaffirm our commitment to the safety and prosperity of Jewish people around the world. We pray for the safe https://t.co/iw0kp3JHaK”.
The following day, Wilson commented on ongoing global conflict and leadership in Russia. On September 23 he wrote: “I totally agree with President Trump. Putin is a coward who takes cheap shots by murdering sleeping families because HE started a war he will not win. The only obstacle to peace and prosperity is the maniac in Moscow. https://t.co/rJFaijAEQG”.
Later that day, Wilson addressed protests in Georgia: “Today marks 300 days of non-stop protest by the courageous and patriotic Georgian people. They will not accept the anti-American Georgian Dream regime’s sale of their country to China, Russia & Iran. This regime is illegitimate. We must pass MEGOBARI!”.
Wilson has been active in politics for decades; prior to his tenure in Congress beginning in 2001 after succeeding Floyd Spence, he served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale at age 75, Wilson earned his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University before obtaining a law degree from the University of South Carolina.
