Joe Wilson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, shared a series of posts on September 4, 2025, addressing foreign policy issues in the Middle East and Eurasia as well as legislative efforts regarding Iranian militias.
In a post published at 00:02 UTC, Wilson wrote: “As a friend of Israel, I was grateful to speak with @AmichaiStein1 about my recent trip to Syria and efforts to repeal the Caesar Act. A unified and stable Syria benefits Israel, the region, and the world. A fractured Syria will lead to a resurgence of ISIS and Iranian-backed”.
Later that morning at 11:55 UTC, Wilson criticized the ruling party in Georgia, stating: “Once again, the anti-American Georgian Dream regime insults President Trump in its vile propaganda! In reality, the regime is handing Georgia over to Communist China, Iran & Russia, banning freedom speech, and imprisoning opposition. Strongly against U.S. interests! #MEGOBARI”.
In another post at 12:37 UTC on September 4th, Wilson highlighted Congressional action against Iranian militias: “I am grateful that for the past two years Congress passed UNPRECEDENTED funding prohibitions — directly and indirectly — on Iranian militias in Iraq into law in the NDAA. I was grateful to support this language led by @SenatorBanks for the past few years however the Biden”.
Wilson has been an active figure in American politics for decades. He began his political career in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001 before joining Congress after succeeding Floyd Spence. Born in Charleston in 1947 and residing in Springdale, Wilson earned his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University in 1969 and completed his law degree at the University of South Carolina in 1972.
