Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, posted a series of statements on October 10, 2025, addressing mental health awareness, government funding disputes, and international policy.
In a post made at 15:32 UTC, Wilson marked the significance of World Mental Health Day by stating, “Today we recognize World Mental Health Day to promote awareness and reduce social stigma from those seeking help to address mental health.”
Later that day at 17:22 UTC, Wilson commented on ongoing government funding negotiations in Congress. He wrote, “The House voted to fund the government over two weeks ago, yet Democrats continue refusal to fund the government. These shameful and costly antics need to end immediately before our military families miss a paycheck.”
At 19:08 UTC, Wilson expressed appreciation for religious leaders in Syria who support repealing the Caesar Act. He stated, “Grateful for the support of senior Christian archbishops and faith leaders in Syria from the Orthodox, Catholic and Evangelical churches for a FULL & PERMANENT repeal of the Caesar Act. As I said to @BreitbartNews Caesar repeal must be included in the final NDAA.”
Wilson has represented South Carolina’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Floyd Spence in 2001. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale, Wilson graduated from Washington and Lee University with a BA in 1969 and earned his JD from the University of South Carolina in 1972.
