Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, posted a series of statements on his social media account on December 18, 2025, addressing international affairs and domestic solidarity efforts.

In a post published at 01:39 UTC, Wilson commented on recent remarks by Russian President Vladimir Putin about former U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukraine. He wrote, “Very revealing as War Criminal Putin insults President Donald Trump confirming his treatise of August 2021 that Ukraine does not exist, as he works to resurrect the failed USSR.”

Later that day at 18:54 UTC, Wilson highlighted his participation in a bipartisan message against antisemitism alongside colleagues and American Jewish Committee CEO Ted Deutch. He stated, “As co-chair of the House Republican Israel Caucus, I was grateful to join American Jewish Committee CEO Ted Deutch and House congressional colleagues in a bipartisan message of solidarity against antisemitism. We stand together with our Jewish friends at home and around the world”.

At 23:46 UTC on the same day, Wilson addressed legislative developments concerning Syria sanctions policy. He said, “Grateful that @POTUS just signed the NDAA, officially repealing the Caesar Syria Sanctions Law. Wonderful to join @SenatorShaheen and record this video with a message to the Syrian people.”

Wilson has represented South Carolina’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Floyd Spence in 2001 and previously served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale, Wilson holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
