Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing topics ranging from senior citizen advocacy to international affairs in Tunisia and Sudan.

On July 29, 2025, Wilson expressed gratitude for his relationship with Jim and highlighted his ongoing commitment to senior citizens: “I cherish my friendship with Jim and thank him for his leadership on issues important to senior citizens that I have the privilege of representing. I am truly honored by this recognition.”

A day later, on July 30, Wilson commented on political unrest in Tunisia: “Protests by the great Tunisian people Illustrate that tyrant Kais Saied has lost legitimacy in Tunisia and in Washington! Tyrant Saied seemingly hates the Tunisian people who he oppresses & hates America — despite getting millions in taxpayer dollars he works with War Criminal”.

Later that same day, Wilson addressed the ongoing conflict in Sudan and praised former President Donald Trump’s approach to peace efforts: “Grateful to send this letter today about the horrific conflict in Sudan. President Trump is a peace maker and I know this will be his next success story. The genocide perpetuated by the RSF must end. Trump will fix it.”

Wilson has been active in Congress since replacing Floyd Spence in 2001 and previously served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1947, he currently resides in Springdale at age 75. He holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
