Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, has recently addressed a range of issues on his official Twitter account, including U.S. policy toward Georgia, defense spending, and the anniversary of September 11.
On September 10, 2025, Wilson highlighted his role in a congressional hearing focused on Georgia’s political trajectory. He stated: “I was grateful to chair a hearing on Georgia’s anti-American turn featuring the courageous President of Georgia @Zourabichvili_S! My resolve has never been greater to pass the MEGOBARI Act and stop the Russian, Iranian & Chinese takeover of Georgia through Georgian Dream puppets!”
Later that evening, Wilson commented on legislative developments related to national defense. On September 10 he posted: “Grateful to have passed the bipartisan FY26 NDAA which demonstrates our commitment to improving the acquisition system. This ensures our troops have what they need before they need it to improve our ability to deter adversaries. I am grateful for @RepMikeRogersAL and”
Marking a significant date in American history, Wilson also recognized the twenty-fourth anniversary of the September 11 attacks in a tweet dated September 11: “Today is the twenty-fourth anniversary of the September 11th attacks. This is an opportunity for all Americans to recognize those impacted and those who lost their lives that tragic day, as well as to thank the brave first responders who heroically responded. We will never”
Wilson has served in Congress since replacing Floyd Spence in 2001 and previously held office in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 until his election to Congress. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale at age 75, he holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
