Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, posted a series of statements on his social media account in December 2025 addressing national defense legislation, the National Guard’s anniversary, and recent attacks on U.S. forces.

On December 10, Wilson expressed appreciation for bipartisan efforts to advance military funding: “I am grateful to House Armed Services Committee Chaiman Mike Rogers for leading the bi-partisan passage of the FY 2026 National Defense Authorization Act this evening. Wilson’s long tenure in Congress follows earlier service in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 until his election to Congress in 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale at age 75, Wilson is also an alumnus of Washington and Lee University (BA) and holds a JD from the University of South Carolina.
