Joe Wilson, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, has recently posted a series of messages on his social media account addressing a range of topics from support for colleagues to legislative achievements and community appreciation.

On January 6, 2026, Wilson expressed concern for a fellow legislator, stating, “Our prayers for Congressman Jim Baird and his wife Danise for a speedy recovery from an auto accident as they were driving for his dedicated service on behalf of the people of Indiana. Jim is so appreciated for his proven leadership for limited government and expanded freedom.”

The following day, January 7, 2026, Wilson highlighted bipartisan efforts in Congress over the past year: “In 2025, House Republicans, led by @SpeakerJohnson, worked closely with @POTUS with real results for American families first, including success on border security; unleashing American energy; keeping money in the pockets of families through lower taxes; funding military readiness”.

On January 9, 2026, Wilson recognized law enforcement officers during National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day: “Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, a time to honor the brave men and women who keep American families safe every day. I am grateful for all South Carolina law enforcement officers including Chief Andrew Richbourg and Captain Brian Lorick with the Springdale”.

Wilson has represented South Carolina’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Floyd Spence in 2001. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale, Wilson graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1969 and earned a JD from the University of South Carolina in 1972.
