Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, posted several statements on his social media account on October 2, 2025, addressing topics ranging from breast cancer awareness to U.S. government policy and the war in Ukraine.
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Wilson wrote, “During #BreastCancerAwareness month, we remember those who have lost their lives to this horrific disease, as well as those who have survived. Later that day, Wilson addressed Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and criticized Democratic policies regarding healthcare for undocumented immigrants. He stated, “Minority Leader Jeffries, YOU LIE! On foreign policy matters, Wilson commented on Ukraine’s ongoing conflict with Russia and endorsed former President Donald Trump’s perspective. He wrote, “President Trump’s assessment of Ukraine’s capability and endurance for victory is correct. Ukraine responds to endless drone and missile attacks while mourning, rebuilding, and innovating to defend their freedom and families, and ours. Wilson has represented South Carolina’s 2nd District in Congress since succeeding Floyd Spence in 2001. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 until his election to federal office. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale at age 75, Wilson holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
