Joe Wilson, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 2nd district since 2001, recently addressed several international issues in a series of posts on his official Twitter account.
On August 26, 2025, Wilson commented on the anniversary of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan: “Americans must never forget August 26th, Surrender in Afghanistan, one of the most disastrous military and foreign policy mistakes in history. Sadly, 13 Americans were killed after successfully preventing resurgence of terrorism for 20 years. Biden capitulation to the Taliban has https://t.co/bLjCLK0VWX”.
The following day, Wilson posted a message directed at Fatima Mseddi and Fakhreddin Fadloun of what he called the “FAKE Tunisian Parliament.” In his post dated August 27, he wrote: “A letter to Fatima Mseddi and Fakhreddin Fadloun of the FAKE Tunisian Parliament
I agree with you in rejecting foreign interference in Tunisia .
Will you agree with me that a good first step would be for your regime to stop taking American taxpayer dollars?

Later that same day, Wilson commented on political developments in Georgia: “The anti-American Georgian Dream regime is cracking down further on free Georgians for trying to prevent the total takeover of their country by Communist China. MEGOBARI needed immediately! https://t.co/4MiRIkHStC”.
Wilson has served as a member of Congress since replacing Floyd Spence in 2001 and previously held office in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 until his election to Congress. Born in Charleston in 1947 and currently residing in Springdale, Wilson holds degrees from Washington and Lee University (BA) and the University of South Carolina (JD).
