The University of South Carolina Aiken maintained its in-state tuition fees for the 2022-23 academic year, as revealed in the most recent report, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

Residents of South Carolina paid $10,760 to attend the public four-year university in both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years.

Non-resident students faced tuition costs that were 97.2% higher than those for in-state students in 2022-23, amounting to $21,218. This figure remained unchanged from the previous academic year.

Approximately 87% of the undergraduate student body at the university are South Carolina residents, while about 11% come from other states and 1% are international students.

Data indicates that 99% of full-time undergraduates who enrolled at the University of South Carolina Aiken in 2022-23 received some form of student financial aid. A total of 539 students were awarded grants or scholarships amounting to $5.2 million, and 289 students took out loans exceeding $1.7 million.

Across the entire undergraduate population, 2,605 students benefited from grants or scholarships totaling $20.4 million. Additionally, 1,431 students borrowed $9.6 million in federal student loans.

Meanwhile, student loan debt has steadily increased over the last 30 years, reaching $1.75 trillion in 2024, averaging a total of $28,950 per borrower. Federal loans make up 92% of the debt, with over half of students at both public and private four-year colleges graduating with student loans.
